Ex: PG wins 2 games against BRHSA who wins 2 games. PG and BRHSA each get .5 match pt. and 2 game pts. Points are cumulative over 4 rounds. Team with highest match points wins. Players win game points, teams win match points.
Tiebreaks: If there is a tie after 5 rounds, Ex: TC Cherry and McNeil each have 2.5 match points. Tiebreak will be decided by whichever team has the higher game point total. If both teams are deadlocked, we will have a g/5 playoff between the top scoring player from each team to break the tie.
Format:
USCF Rated, 5 rounds. Indivudals from schools who do not have teams, or have an odd number of players, may also enter. The tournament organizer will place individuals on a mixed team that will be able to compete for ratings and individual trophies, but will not qualify for a "team" trophy, as these are reserved for legitimate school teams. Up to four players are allowed to compete on a single team from each school. Schools can have more than 1 team in each section designated as Team Name A, Team Name B, etc. At least 2 players are required to make a team. If a school has 6 players in the same section, 4 will represent the 'A' team and the other two will represent the 'B' team from the same school in that section (PBC A and PBC B). Team style play (i.e. Potter Gray vs. BRHSA, up to 4 boards vs. up to 4 boards; could be 4 boards vs. 2 boards, etc.). Notation will be required for all games in k-8 and k-12 sections. Coaches: please be sure to check the link on our website for printable notation sheets. You will need to bring 5 sheets for each player in these sections.
Each team has a chance to win 1 match point and 4 game points each round. There will be 5 rounds so there is a total of 5 match points and 20 game points that any team could win if they won every game every round.
